AVLDA conducts 3rd Quarter TWG and BOD Meetings |

| RURM Plant Nursery formally Opened | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Brgy. Datal Dlanag, T'boli, South Cotabato – A short program was held to formally launch the Rainforestation and Upstream Resource Management (RURM) Plant Nursery, August 17, 2009. The fencing of the 0.5-hectare plant nursery site and staff house/training hall for farmers has a total estimated cost of Php 82,000.00. This project was made possible through a collaborative effort of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of South Cotabato, LGU of the municipality of T'boli, the National Commission for Indigenous People (NCIP), the Tribal Leaders Development Foundation, Inc. (TLDFI), LGU of Brgy. Datal Dlanag, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Allah Valley Landscape Development Alliance (AVLDA). |

| Tacurong City Conducts Series of Simultaneous Tree-Planting Activities | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Tree seedlings of mahogany, narra and bamboo trees were planted along the riparian zones of Tacurong City during the simultaneous tree-planting activities last June 17-19, 2009. The activities were done in support to the Riparian Zone Re-vegetation (RZR) Program. RZR or planting of trees and other vegetations along the river banks to prevent soil erosion aims to protect the riverbanks through vegetative protection, augment farmers' income through regulated bamboo poles harvesting and production of bamboo handicrafts, and develop awareness and promote public participation on environmental conservation. |

South Cotabato-Sultan Kudarat Alliance “The major river systems traversing the provinces of Sultan Kudarat and South Cotabato are both a blessing and a curse to the people. The rivers are a blessing because they provide abundant water for the adjacent rice and corn fields. But they become a curse when the water levels rise and inundate the farms,” so goes the introduction of the Allah Valley Alliance building for Landscape Development (AVLDA) project. |

Our children have stopped going to school, our food is not enough.
