BARAS BIRD SANCTUARY
Enjoy the natural sound of orchestra brought together by the gush of a nearby river, brushing of leaves by the wind and humming of birds at the Baras Bird Sanctuary in Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat.
The Baras Bird Sanctuary is home to at least 10,000 birds, mainly the Nocturnal Crowned Night Heron and Cattle Egret species.
These birds hunt for food, mostly fishes, frogs, lizards, worms, rats and unguarded newly-hatched chicks, in Liguasan Marsh and Lake Baluan which are located in areas of the provinces North Cotabato and Maguindanao, and in Lake Sebu in South Cotabato.
PALM OIL PLANTATION
Learn how the people of Sultan Kudarat benefit from these palm oil plantations.
Palm oil plantations began in the Philippines in the late sixties. Palm oil, which is native to West Africa, is the most productive oil crop yeilding 5 to 10 times more than any commercially grown oil crop.
ECO-TOURISM LAKE SEBU
Also known as the Summer Capital of Southern Philippines, the municipality of Lake Sebu in South Cotabato exhibits scenic lakes, waterfalls, countless streams, tilapia farms and incredible handicrafts created by the gentle and colourful T’boli tribe who aside from their own tribe’s dialect can also speak Tagalog, Ilonggo and Karay-a.
See the three lakes in Lake Sebu: Lake Lahit, Lake Seloton and the name of the town itself, Lake Sebu. Visit the first falls of the Dongon 7 Falls, one of the favourite tourist destinations in Lake Sebu and a must have adventure for those who are passionate mountain hikers.
